WYW burst upon the scene in the summer of 2005. But its roots can be traced to a small town way down
south in Norwalk, Connecticut, about seven years ago. There were these four guys; Cory, Rudy, Del, and Arthur (although
not in that order). Del said, "If we're gonna be real guys, we must have a guy's night out." And just like that, "Guy's
Night" was born. But where would these guys go?
Our inaugural feeding frenzy was a trip to The Captain's Galley in West Haven, CT. This place attracts a lot of large
mammals with huge portions for people who have simply let themselves go. In short, a good place to hurt yourself with
a prime rib. After several monthly sessions of punishment at the hands of the Captain, our four hero's next outing was
to Archie Moore's in Fairfield, CT. Good bar food: burgers, nachos, and...wings.
So by now "Guy's Night" was an official "thing", an institution. Big food, bad jokes, usually followed by a stop at
the DQ. But something threatened to put an end to all that we had created. Yes, higher education. College.
Cory and Arthur headed upstate to Quinnipiac and UCONN. Rudy and Del, not wanting to let there cholesterol levels
drop, assigned Cory with the task of finding a suitable, in-between location to keep our "thing" going. Enter Side
Streets in Hamden, CT. Good food, good portions, and...wings! It is fabled that it was there that Cory, while curled
up under a table surrounded by chicken bones and crumpled up Wet-Naps, first mumbled the phrase, "It's all about the wings."
Now all of us being regular equal opportunity minded guys, we had nothing against adding a girl to our ranks. But who
could possibly keep up with our "slop till you drop" table manners, not to mention all those Caddy Shack references.
The applicants were many. The choice was easy. Kirby. Yes that Kirby. Future wingpreneur, radio personality and
restaurant spokesperson. The four of us welcomed her not only socially but economically as we were now able to split
the tab five ways!
So what does this all have to do with Wings Your Way?
Well, Cory graduated with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management and headed out into the world to seek
his fortune. Arthur told him, "Do what you love." Rudy said "Work for yourself." Del said "I'm starving." And Wings Your Way
was born! If we only knew that all of those "Guy's Nights" were going to result in the biggest thing to hit the food industry
since Ronald erected his first golden arch, we could have written it all off as a corporate research expense!
So stop on in. Who knows, you might just run into one of the original "Guy's Nighters" slumped over a "Halle Berry" or face
down in an "Anna Nicole." But be careful not to get too close or you may find out the hard way why they say "I got boned
at Wings Your Way."
